Showing love to the people we’re around shouldn’t be a one-day-a-year occurrence. Loving the space you’re in helps foster those feelings all year long and show love to the people around you.
It’s why I love my kitchen and living room space. Everyone loves to congregate in the kitchen, and the big open space that combines it with the living room makes for great times with family and friends. I get a lot of enjoyment spending time with the people closest to me, and that’s the best place in the house to bring everyone together.
“My favorite room in the house is the kitchen,” change expert Kate Fessler says, “because it’s a place of creation, nourishment, family and celebration.”
Husband and wife real estate agent team, David and Patricia Wangsness, agree.
Interior designer Michele Bayle, cites the living room as her favorite room in the house not only for entertaining, but showcasing personal style.
“The living room is a place of gathering, a place to relax, or watch TV or read a book,” Michele says. “It requires bigger pieces and surfaces to place beverages, books or artifacts. It is the room that most people see first when coming into a home, so it has to make a good first impression.”
Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright seems less concerned about making a good impression, and more concerned about claiming his seat. “My favorite room in the house is the living room,” K.J. says. “On the right side of the couch where I can face the TV the right way.”
And probably zone out after a long day at work, which is an important part of loving the space you’re in at home. Your favorite room of the house could be the one that gives you a chance to recharge. That’s why you’ll find a few of K.J.’s teammates in a quiet room at the end of the day.
“My favorite room in the house is the movie room,” Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor says. “I love to watch movies in peace and quiet. I study my film quietly in there because it’s comfy. I like to relax, meditate and just chill.”
“My theater room is like a sanctuary,” Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin adds. “I love watching movies so to be able to sit in a chair with the lights dimmed and some popcorn or candy, to me, it doesn’t get much better than that.”
